TK Sparta Praha

The Sparta Prague Tennis Club has a rich history and a great tradition in the world of tennis. It is one of the oldest clubs in the Czech Republic. The roots of the club go back to the beginning of the last century, specifically to 1905, when the club was founded. During its existence the club was moved several times and finally in 1953 it settled on the banks of the Vltvava River on the edge of Stromovka in Bubenec.

Through the history of the club TK Sparta Prague passed many personalities who influenced Czech and world tennis. These personalities include Karel Koželuh, Vladímír Zábrodský, Věra Sluková, František Pála, Jan Kodeš, Martina Navrátilová, Hana Mandlíková and Miroslava Bendlová-Koželuhová. Recently, the club has been home to former and current national players such as Petra Kvitová, Barbora Strýcová, Radek Štěpánek and Jiří Veselý, as well as Czech tennis hopefuls such as Sara Bejlek, Lucie Havlíčková, Tereza Valentová, Barbora Palicová, Alena Kovačková, Laura Samson, Hynek Barton, Jakub Nicod, Michael Vrbenský and Martin Krumich.

The Sparta Prague Tennis Club is part of the National Tennis Centre in the system of the Czech Tennis Federation, where the best tennis players of the Czech Republic are trained - from junior categories to world-class players.

Sports facilities

The sports complex has undergone a number of upgrades, first caused by the effects of floods in 2002 and 2013 and most recently in 2020, when the complex was extensively rebuilt and several new concrete courts were built. Currently, the club's grounds offer 23 outdoor courts in the summer season.
